The Boston College Women's Water Polo Club (BCWWP) competes in the New England Division of the Collegiate Water Polo Association. During the spring season the team practices for 2 hours, 4 days a week. Competition during the spring season includes 2 divisional tournaments, 1 division championship (1st place receives a bid to Nationals), 1 invitational tournament, and multiple scrimmages with local teams. During the off-season in the fall the team usually participates in an invitational tournament and local scrimmages. The team had its most successful season in spring '08 winning the division title and contending in the National Collegiate Club Championship for the first time. Continuing the success, the team defended its North Atlantic division title and received another bid to the National Collegiate Club Championship, this time in Davis, California. The next year, 2009, the team moved into the New England Division of the Collegiate Water Polo Association looking for some more competition. Once again, the BC women's water polo team took home the division title and headed to the National Championship tournament in Tucson, Arizona.
BCWWP is a competitive, student-run program (we are not a varsity sport). Our team welcomes players of all levels and backgrounds. No experience is necessary, though strong swimming ability is recommended.
